sg

it's been a week since i've returned to this sunny island. it's the monsoon season.. love it when i'm home but not so much when i'm about to go out. finally i have the time and mood type another entry...

The night before my flight home, i met up with ziying and letian at wanling's place. Dinner was very good thanks to wanling, her fellow housemate Shake and tom (sorry, i still cant remember your name...) We had curry chicken (or chicken curry), potato salad, hand made fried wanton and "Yingthai" spicy mince pork :) (yummmm...) i had a great time! the only problem was that i was too tired to converse with the others. hope to catch up with you all again... ^^

Since my return, I've been busy shopping for office attires with joanna, shuhui and my mum; helping out with the household chores; spending some time with family and friends; and interviews.

still feel very lethargic.. i wonder if i'm not having enough rest or it's bcuz of the weather...

starting work on monday... have to do more shopping... sigh...

it's getting hot hot hot...

my laptop has been throwing tantrum the whole day - it kept shutting down whenever it wanted, giving insufficient time to savage whatever work i've done or simply disconnect without warning. this act went a bit out of hand... moreover, the extremely warm, stuffy weather and pressing deadlines didn't ease the situation at all. after the 6th or 7th times if automatically shutted down, i decided i shouldn't fight it. so i left and head down to uni to settle some stuff.

now i'm back at home. and my silly laptop still feels feverish. to the extent that i have to work in front of the so call "air-con" which is a fan-like unit. otherwise it'll go hay-wire again...
See how the cold air from the fan unit will remove the warmth from the bottom of the laptop as it passes... ah... ingenious. haha. yea lar. i know there's a fan unit like that can be connected to the bottom of the laptop. but this the best i can do with wad i have... it's call improvisation! :P

foodies.

On the contrary to common belief, i'm so gonna miss the food here in Melbourne especially Korean and Jap cuisine. I'll also miss the ice cream and the chocolate. sheesh. i'm hungry. :( and i'm also gonna miss the feeling of knowing exactly where to get stuff. any place in singapore for good cakes? or places for chilling and drinks? or good ice cream? good chocolates? ahhhh.. i'm going crazy. i need foooooooooooooooooooooooood.

exchange...

Read my uni email today and to my dismay, i need to make some changes to my exchange plans. I must have really wished to go for a year as i've overlooked 3 important words - Semester long exchange. (How could i have missed that?!) I'm pretty certain my prof din know about that cuz he has approved my subject plan. Unfortunately, the lecturer in charged in london seemed pretty strict about it. He told me to reconsider my plan cuz it's unlikely they would accept any one opting for year long exchange.

Spent the afternoon searching for other uni(s) but to no avail. i've found some but the subjects they offer are not a good fit to mine. In the midst of my exams... nah.. i dun think it's the best thing to do. but i'm leaving immediately after my exams. so i have to do it now or never! argh. and it's really not easy to find a good fit cuz i have to agree its quite a weird combination unlike commerce...

choices:

1. I can simply submit the year long study plan with a high chance of rejection. either i get it my way or nothing at all.

2. To compromise. I change my subject plan so that it'll fit a semester even thou i dont like those subjects. if i'm accepted, I'll have the chance to spend the summer term there. I prefer having the fall semester but i cant get everything i want, can i? if rejected, i'll stay in melbourne.

3. Go thru all the hassle of looking for a uni and meeting my prof to get approval within A WEEK! and risking my exams which will determine if i can qualify for the exchange programme.

No matter what the final decision will be, One thing for sure, i'll submit it before i leave for Singapore.

Om shanti Om

Initially, I was hestitant to watch 'Om Shanti Om' a hindi movie starring Shah Rukh Khan (SRK). But i'm glad i did. The 2 1/2 hour long movie proved to be pretty good... and lotsa good looking people. When Deepika Padukone started dancing, angela and i were captivated by her pretty face and body - she's tall (she's 1.75m), slim, busty and has nice legs. *awww... isn't she lucky? and, according to my housemate, it's the first time SRK appeared topless on screen. and for someone who is 42, his abs were pretty amazing... for the first half of the show, he seemed to have aged a lot but fortunately, he looked so much better in the second half. In addition, it had catchy music and the dance scenes were pretty good. as in, there were no lame dancers jumping from behind trees or rocks or watever... everything was well choreographed and it din feel like 2 1/2 hours at all. anywayz, after the movie, i decided to own a copy of the dvd/vcd if it has english subtitles. Yup, that will be my first hindi movie.

There are a few other Hindi movies which my housemate has kindly recommended and I thought they are pretty good too. But most of them, like Korean movies, were pretty saddening. if u are into crying, you can try watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. If you are into something more light hearted, maybe Hum Tum will be more suitable.

third paper.

i cant decide if i'm scared or smiley after the paper. I'm scared cuz i din manage to finish my paper and answered a 14marks question in point form! additionally, i din really finish the rest of the questions. And I'm scared cuz this is the only subject i've spent so much time preparing and naturally i had (and despite not finishing the paper, i still have) expectations... and i was happy becuz.. eh... only because i've completed another paper (i think).

o wellz. jus hoping and praying, hoping and praying... that it will all turn out well.. :)

exams.

I think... I screwed up my paper today. It was a 3 hours paper. I did all i can and i walked out of the exam hall... smiling. okie. i know this will sound weird cuz normal people will smile only when they are confident about the paper. On the CONTRARY, if i feel normal or smiley after a paper means it's not good. weird isn't it? let me explain... i'll be smiling cuz i know i've given all i could for the paper. there is nothing i've known and not written down. Not that i know how to answer every question or very confident with the answers. All I can say is "I did my best and there's nothing i could do to make it any better". But if i were to walk out of the examination hall looking worried, it MAYBE because i've studied very hard for the paper and I would like to think that i've answered most of the questions correctly. Or it maybe cuz i know the answers but have no time to write them down. Hence, the stressfulness... but of cuz... there're exceptions...

As ridiculous as it may sound, i really hope i can ace today's paper cuz it's imperative in deciding the acceptance for my exchange programme...

bleah.

It's getting warmer and warmer as the days passed. 1 down and 3 more papers to go. i'm so dead. totally not prepared at all. for the past few days, i've been so lerthargic and lost the mood to study. wad have i been doing? eating, watching ugly betty and house, eating, sleeping, supper-ing, eating ice-cream... seriously... enjoying... i better get back to work.

Are u into horoscope?

Out of curiosity, for the past 3 months, i've been checking my monthly horoscope. Well... i couldn't remember if they all happened but they had mentioned so many things of which one or two bound to occur. Maybe coincidence? Maybe not.

Was feeling kinda emotional today. the accumulation of certain repressed feelings seemed to got the better of me. but now it's back to normal - suppressed.

It's not very healthy isn't it? But i realise i have an immense difficulty in communicating my inner thoughts and feelings to others. Even if i'd scripted it and reeled the whole conversation in my mind, more often than not, i'ld swallow them back. Or, i'ld say it in a total mess.

As usual, jus like any other libra, I had a mini debate with myself and I on the possible reasons for the prolonged duration of periodical depression and the SOLUTIONS!!!
After much attempts, i've concluded - I don't Know *shrug* and i should jus focus on what's important now - the exams...

Pretty useless debate huh... haha...

In my pathetic attempt to resolve my inner conflict, i decided to consult the horoscope website that my housemate had sent me yesterday. And... some of the points resonate in my mind and now i know, i'm not the only one.

"Frequently, with all these gifts, the one to suffer is the Libran himself. This is because, if you're going to spend your life with the kind of acute awareness of everybody else that Libra's got, you don't have a chance very often to express your own emotions honestly. And this is Libra's biggest problem. He often finds his own emotions very painful to deal with, because they so frequently contradict the ideal of the Good, the True and the Beautiful. Libra likes to think that emotion should always be pleasant, agreeable, loving, harmonious. When he feels things like anger, hatred, jealousy, intense desire, it frightens him. One shouldn't feel such things. He often carries a pretty sizeable guilt complex around him, over all those nasty things that churn around in the secret soul.

In a nutshell, Libra often represses his own emotions mercilessly, both because they conflict with his image of how people should be, and because they get him into trouble when he shows his real feelings. His unreal world of perfect harmony and companionship often becomes so unreal that it's impossible for him to deal with ordinary human conflict. And repressed emotion like that, sooner or later, surfaces in a variety of unpleasant and indirect ways - like depression and physical illness. Or like secret and unintentional snipes at the people he's trying hardest to be pleasant to. Then he says the worst possible thing at the worst possible moment, and doesn't even realize what he's done. His pent-up anger and hostility have come out in an indirect way, and he's usually the last one to know he's doing it, until he's lost all his friends in the process.

Libra also often has a great problem with what he calls his selfishness. It's hard for him to assert his own wishes without consulting everybody first. Now, Libra is pretty notorious for the famous indecisiveness he's said to possess. But it isn't real. It isn't as though he had no ideas about his own wishes or own tastes. Left alone, Libra can be pretty quick to make choices. It's just that when he gets around somebody else, he keeps trying to adjust his choice to get the maximum cooperation. In part, it's because often he doesn't really care that passionately about having what he wants, it's more important to him to have company. He's made his choice, and it's to choose harmony. In part, he often feels vaguely guilty for wnating something, because it might be selfish. So he makes an effort to consider the other person, and he winds up caught in between. And in part he thinks aloud. Libras often work out their thoughts by talking to others; in the end, they make thier own decidions, but their thinking processes often crystallize in conversation. It's a good idea not to take a Libran's statement too literally when you're in mid-discussion. He's usually trying things on. Later, when he's alone, he'll work out what he really think."

Jus to end this very long entry,

"Maybe he recognises some secret in life that others don't see: that it's possible to be more than we are, better, more Good, more True, more Beautiful"

Rain... washes my toubles away...

for the past few days, it's been raining so often in Melbourne ...

As a result of the comfort brought about by the constant drizzle, I woke up at around 2pm. That's 10 hours of sleep. - GOSH !-

And i was supposed to meet my friend to discuss past year papers at (what?!) 10.30 AM?! haha... but i snoozed... Thankfully, he wasn't able to leave his house cuz he has no umbrella.. (o.O)
so now, i'll spend my afternoon reading thru my textbook for the first time.

despite all these, I'm sure it's a blessing. I love rainy days (only when i'm at home) ^^

btw, it's been confirmed. my internship will start on the 3rd dec - 28feb. hopefully, i'll have time to prepare for it.

Exams are round the corner and from the number of times i've blogged, you should have guessed by now wad i'll be saying. Yes, i've been busy.

Busy with exams, busy with my assignment, busy with my exchange application, busy looking for internship, busy hunting for food, busy walking ard city, busy hanging out with friends, busy talking too much... jus busy being busy.

Well, jus for a quick update, I'll be returning to singapore end of this month and soon after, i'll be having my FIRST serious interview at Knight Frank. and I'm so not prepared. To me, THIS IS IT~! my first step into the working world... and i cant afford to screw this.

Given an opportunity to work in a renown firm in the property industry and at the same time to be able to study overseas, Yes, I'm contented. ^^ and really grateful.

updates.

sorry peeps.. i've been lazy the past few weeks.

i had 2 weeks hols and 3 weeks more before all my lessons are officially over.

i cant remember wad i've done on my first week. Met up with le tian and his housemates. Brought them to EC claypot and then to Max brenner :) i had toffee chocishake. Yummye!

second week was mainly hanging out with my friends. one of them had left melb for good last tuesday. after staying here for 5 years.. and with so many friends still here in melbourne, it's nearly unbearable to leave... for good.. after changing her flight for the 3rd/4th time, she eventually returned on tuesday. And becuz of her, i got the chance to have so many good food at chapel's thai, pacific house's roast duck, max brenner's fondue etc... and of cuz, lotsa other moments. but it's okie. i'll see her back in singapore!

Ziying's parents were here in melbourne for 2 weeks. the day before they left, i brought them to this italian place i forgot the name. hahaha... and then after that we went to max brenner. hahaha.
Went over to cal's house for a mini gathering. together with angela, they cooked some italian dishes. and i bought tangy chicken from mark's place... heavenly :) after dinner, we played boogie dance, cooking mama and one other game on wii... hahaha... it's really tiring but it was a good work out.! this night marked the end of my official uni holidays, but hols started way before that and will end way after :P
clara came down to melb for 4 days but i only met up with her on the last day. it was good to see her here ^^ brought her to have korean cuisine at Oriental spoon and KoKo black. Korean food and chocolate.. 2 must haves when u are in melbourne! hee.. i'll so gonna miss them when i'm back in singapore this year end.

yes, i do love max brenner! in the span of 2 weeks, i've been there 3 times. and not to mention the number of times i've been there before that. when i was there the 3rd time, i'm totally desensitise by then. and the food became a bit dull. but as i'm typing this, i have the sudden craving to have it again. hahaha.

met up with ziying yesterday and brought her down to Ghin khao for lunch. i'm so addicted to their thai food. sheesh. i feel like going down NOW!

i'm such a foodie. :) haha.

well, i've also watched a few movies, namely, Stardust, Once and The homesong stories. the first is the fantasy romance kinda show, it's not too bad. once is okay nia. not something i would watch again. and the homesong stories starring joan chen and qi yu wu was quite nice.. i teared a couple of times but i managed to control my tears with slow deep breathing. hahaha.. and i'ld reccommend you all to watch the latter if it's showing in singapore.! ^^ there was a part which spoiled the movie was when one of the nurse spoke in SINGLISH when the hospital was supposedly located in melbourne. and in that ward, qi yu wu's accent also became singaporean (!!!) when he's supposed to be a hongkie..! that was such a spoiler... albeit hilarious for us..! hahaha.

i want to eat...

"平凡之中制造一些些惊喜和希望"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo.. Thursday's gone too!

In order to remind myself of to treasure time and the fact that it stops for no one, I've made an effort to cross out each day on my calandar as it passes - so i can SEE exactly how fast it flies and hopefully be able to use it wisely. On the contrary, i've realised all that i've been doing was merely crossing out the days. i've neither made any progress in my work nor spend my time productively. this is bad.

Time flies and thursday gone. nearly half of my holiday is over and i've yet to accomplished anything academic. Nothing..! gosh!

well... i've been reading slightly more than before... one of these books is "Buddhism for Busy people: Finding happiness in an uncertain world by David Michie". I strongly recommend people to read it cuz its a pageturner, offers practical advices and easy to understand. :)
Moreover, it has many quotations which i can relate to...

in the Chapter on 'Karma':

"As Buddha said in the Dharmapadda:

The thought manifests as the word;
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens to character;
So watch the thought and its ways with care,
and let it spring from love born out of concern for all beings...
As the shadow follows the body,
as we think so we become.

'if we want to know how our life will be in the furture, we should look at how we think and act today. We are the sum total of the decisions we take. Or, to quote the Dalai Lama, "Our present condition is not something causeless nor is it something caused by chance. It is something we ourselves have steadily constructed through our series of past decisions and the actions of body, speech and mind that arose from them." ' "

We shape our lives.

wednesday already?! oh NO!

Spring's here.

It's been raining quite a bit in Melbourne recently. and the erratic weather condition somehow makes ppl feel lethargic and restless. either that, or it's jus me, lack of exercise... *yawnz.

Had a group meeting for my property management assignment on Taipei 101. dragged myself out of bed at 9.45 A.M. To me, it's considered early. Moreover, with my housemate up packing her luggage, some how, i felt i was back in Trinity. and it felt really Goood!

The group meeting went well until i was made to talk to the people in charged of Taipei 101 and i made a FOOL out of myself. Yes, my groupmates actually made an international call to Taiwan and made me speak. I spoke in a mixture of english and mandarin and i could hardly form proper sentences. it was really bad. but the incharge was rather patient with me and tried to understand what i was asking. unlike singaporeans. hahaha... anywayz, i was traumatised by the whole incident...

Why am i incapable of forming proper sentences in mandarin? argh...

i'm not comfortable discussing too much about myself with others, so the only way out is by reading... hopefully i'll be able to gain enlightment from there. well... if you have any books for the soul, do recommend. hahaha...

i pray for wisdom and little less stubborness...

" The alchemist knew the legend of Narcissus, a youth who knelt daily beside a lake to contemplate his own beauty. He was so fascinated by himself that, one morning, he fell into the lake and drowned. At the spot where he fell, a flower was born, which was called the narcissus.
... ... When Narcisuss died, the goddesses of the forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh water, transformed into a lake of salty tears.
' Why do u weap?' the goddesses asked.
' I weep for Narcissus,' the lake replied.
' Ah, it is no surprise that you weep for Narcissus,' they said, 'for though we always pursued him in the forest, you alone could contemplate his beauty close at hand.'
' But... was Narcissus beautiful?' the lake asked.
' Who better than you to know that?' the goddeses said in wonder. 'After all, it was by your banks that he knelt each day to contemplate himself!'
The lake was silent for some time. Finally it said:
'I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depth of his eyes, my own beauty reflected.'
'What a lovely story,' the alchemist thought. "

It's been quite some time since i last saw Mayday's mtv. Today, TY directed me to Youtube showing their chinese version of "La Ji Che". My first reaction, unfortunately, i frowned. HAhaha... opps.. but yea... it sounded a bit weird. but after some time, i giggled. there's something in Ah Xin's voice and his expressions that tickle me. suddenly, i remembered how crazy i was in Sec 4 and for that 15 seconds, those emotions and memories flooded me...

Dont get me wrong, i really do like them. Although i may sometimes appear unconcerned or even distaste to some of their music, i still do like them and like before, they still cheer me up. ^^

Initially, wanted to upload a few advertisements shown here in Aussie . but i cant find them online. so sad... but i'll list them anyway..

1. Tim Tam's - Genie ( there's many version but i like the 2006 one)
2. Yellow Page - Home repair - vet
3. Milk for life - Full version

Was tagged by Huixian, so i'll be a good spot and finish the task as follows.

Rules of the game:Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose six people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!

1) although i may be small, there are times (depending on my mood) when i can seriously shock you with the amount i can eat.

2) i like to have my personal space. so if i jus get to know you, please dun touch me or talk very close to my face. hahaha.. this reminded me of an incident of my lecturer last semester. hahaha.. she came directly into my face, i nearly pushed her away. but i stopped in time. my hands were already 15 cm away from her.. but i took and step back and she came forward again... woooahh.. not too near peeps. i can hear u. really.

3) When i start doing my work on the study table, i'll pack it and make sure it's clean and neat. but as i do my thing, i'll start messing it all up again. (messy = got work done). hahahaha...

4) When i'm scared, nervous or uncomfortable, i may appear a bit too talkative/hyper/easily excited so as to cover my fear. or... i'll be very quiet to save myself from being foolish.

5) i enjoy studying overseas =)

6) i like to spend time alone - walking around the city, enjoying the cityscape. if the weather's good ( warm sun and gentle breeze), i'll have lunch in the park, listening to music on my ipod while reading... or watching ppl watching bird watching ppl... hahaha... do u understand? hahahaha... loves it!

7) i appreciate simple pleasures in life. breathing in fresh air, eating good food, strolling in the cool breeze surrounded by parks, trees and beautiful flowers, sitting in the park with good company, enjoying the beauty in everything =) life's good.

8) i'll be really annoyed and cranky if i dun have my personal time and space once in a while.

9) i'll know when is your birthday. hahaha.. but if i din wish you, be sure that i'd whisper "happy birthday" to you in my heart.

10) ard 50% of my money is spent on papers, ribbons, stationaries, art stuff etc... 45% is on food. the remaining 5% on transport, leisure etc...

supposed to tag 6 peeps:
1) Xiao Wei
2) Astri
3) Yingjin
4) Joanna
5) Zhen Long

MUST

well.. this semester i've been blessed with lotsa good stuff! hahaha...

first and FOREMOST...

if u haven't catch "The Phantom of the OPERA", you MUST! hahahaha... Loves loves loves it!

On the 5th, i went to watch the Musical in Princess Theatre. ( my very first MuSICAL theatre experience) and One word: FANTASTIC! The movie is also a good alternative. In fact, with technology, the visual impact is definitely better than the theatre.

next, RATATOUILLE

This is the only movie i've watched that the audience clapped in the middle of the show.

haha.... usually, one would put the pic of the rat. but but but... this character shock me most of the time. hahhaha.... BOO! you'll understand if u watch it.. hahaha...

and i love the french song: Le Festin.

3rdly, Pixar: 20 Years of Animation!

Really appreciate all the effort the animators put into their work. After this, i'll definitely scrutinize every bit of each character from their general facial expression to every twitch of its muscles down to the single bit of their fur...

Check it out: http://www.acmi.net.au/pixar.aspx

This is pasted on my wall infront of my study table. hahaha... and by the way.. Taipan.. is a name card for a dim sum restaurant Jody (my p6 friend) took me last sem. really good food! hahaha *bliss... hahahaha... and the small piece of paper reads "Imagination, Life is your creation." (quoted from Aqua's song)
hmmm... so wad does this says about me? but of cuz.. there are a lot of other stuff on my wall.. hahaha...

Last but not least... good company and good food!

Thank you! ^^

and keeping fingers crossed for the many many pleasant moments to come...

2007

heya~..

i know i know... it's been so long since i last updated. finally... in 2007... i'll try to be consistent.

anyway... what have i been busy with???
This semester is the FOOD...! Loving it. :)

and the more the merrier...

Yesterday we went to Kimchi Grandma and Max Brenner to celebrate Letian's belated birthday! the food was really good. Yumm! Korean... hahha.. loves it.

erm... a bit lazy to update about the past few months cuz i did so many things. hahaha.. i'll be more consistent in future ;P

anyway.. initially the plan for today was to go to St. Kilda with Ziying but my dear friend has last min project meeting... so the plan is cancelled. but i'm cool with that. at least now i can sleep in and have to complete my assignments anywaz... alrighty... tmr then... hahaha.. maybe?
